Skin Cancer Foundation Says Laundry Additive Can Help Block UV Rays From Penetrating Clothing

To help in the fight against skin cancer, the Skin Cancer Foundation recommends use of a laundry additive that helps block the damaging ultraviolet rays from penetrating clothing.

Most lightweight summer clothing does not adequately protect skin from the sun's harmful UV rays. A typical white cotton T-shirt only offers a UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) of 5.

Rit® Sun Guard™ washes in extra protection against UV rays. By adding one package to a regular wash cycle, clothing attains a UPF of 30 that will last for up to 20 washings.

The product said to be safe to use on all family members' washable clothing, including children's, and will not alter the color or feel of clothing in any way.
